Apply for Permit
Employment permits follow the relevant employment authority's process; STEP proposals are assessed by immigration authorities through a separate procedure.
Entry and residence registration
After obtaining required entry permission, register residence and the appropriate stamp under the approval letter.
Convert to Stamp 4 & Citizenship
Renew the relevant permission or apply for Stamp 4 when eligible. Stamp 4 is not unconditional permanent residence; naturalisation separately requires reckonable residence and other conditions.
Is the €1 million Ireland Immigrant Investor Programme still available?
No. The Irish government officially closed the IIP (Immigrant Investor Programme) in early 2023, including the €1 million enterprise investment and €400,000 donation. Mainstream immigration channels have now shifted to executive transfers/work visas, or the STEP (Start-up Entrepreneur Programme) visa.
Why is the Irish passport called the strongest global stepping stone?
Irish citizens benefit from applicable EU free-movement and UK Common Travel Area rules, but residence is not citizenship. The US E-3 principal category is for Australian nationals; an unimplemented proposal for Irish nationals is not a current entitlement.
Is an Irish work visa hard to get?
Critical Skills eligibility depends on occupation, salary, qualifications, employer and contract conditions. Family work rights and later Stamp 4 permission follow separate rules; a job offer at a stated salary does not guarantee approval.
