Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H)
Southeast Asia's most cost-effective long-term visa for retirement and accompanying children studying abroad.
The Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) program is a long-term, multiple-entry visa valid for 5 to 15 years (tiered under the latest policy). With a low cost of living, an excellent network of bilingual international schools, and high-quality private healthcare, it has become the "backyard" for many middle-class families seeking "educational breakouts" and "light retirement immigration."

Bilingual International Education
Kuala Lumpur boasts a large number of highly cost-effective, fully English-taught international schools connected to the UK/US systems.
No Communication Barriers
A massive Chinese community with an extremely high Chinese language penetration rate, retaining the purest traditional Chinese culture.
Low Cost of Living
Enjoy prosperity and infrastructure comparable to tier-one cities back home, but at a fraction of the cost of Western countries.
Flexible Exit Mechanism
You can terminate the visa program at any time and withdraw your time deposit from the Malaysian bank without interest penalties.
Free from Global Taxation Worries
Malaysia uses a territorial tax system, meaning it only taxes income generated within Malaysia. Overseas income remitted to Malaysia is tax-exempt (with specific exceptions), making it highly suitable as a second home in Asia.
Highly Cost-Effective International Schools
Kuala Lumpur and Penang have a large number of high-quality international schools with tuition fees at only 1/3 of those in tier-one Asian cities, and many utilize authentic British or American education systems.
"The medical standards and Chinese community atmosphere in Kuala Lumpur are fantastic. With no language barrier, my wife and I live an extremely comfortable life here. The MM2H program has a low threshold and safe funds; it is the most ideal retirement safe haven in Asia."
Prepare & Legalize Documents in Home Country (2-4 weeks)
Prepare and notarize income proofs, bank statements, and criminal record checks in your home country.
Submit for Official Review & Await Approval (3-6 months)
A licensed agent submits the application to the relevant Malaysian ministries; wait for the approval letter (usually 3-6 months).
Land in Malaysia, Buy Property & Deposit (Weeks post-approval)
After conditional approval, land in Malaysia to purchase the designated property and make the bank time deposit.
Medical Exam, Final Review & MM2H Stamping (1-2 weeks)
Complete a medical exam, buy local medical insurance, and go to the Immigration Department for final review and visa stamping.
What is the latest threshold for MM2H?
MM2H has been divided into Silver, Gold, and Platinum tiers. Currently, the most basic threshold requires a time deposit of about 1 million MYR (or equivalent) and requires the main applicant to reside in Malaysia for at least 90 days annually.
Can I work in Malaysia after getting MM2H?
Generally, no. MM2H is essentially a long-term residency visa and does not allow you to take jobs away from locals. If you want to work, you must separately apply for an Employment Pass.
