Reshuffle of the Value of the Five Caribbean Passports: Visa-Free Countries, Background Check Difficulty, and Hidden Costs

Reshuffle of the Value of the Five Caribbean Passports: Visa-Free Countries, Background Check Difficulty, and Hidden Costs

Caribbean Five-Nation Passports (CBI): Choose Only the Right One, Not the Cheapest

As the five Caribbean nations jointly raised the minimum investment to $200,000, the pure "price war" has ended. Now, wealthy individuals must choose the most suitable second identity based on the true attributes of the passports.

1. St. Kitts and Nevis: Old Aristocrat and King of Financial Infrastructure

St. Kitts is the originator of global CBI programs. Its biggest advantages are:

  • Longest History, Highest International Recognition: When opening accounts in major European banks, the compliance pass rate of the St. Kitts passport is far higher than the other countries.
  • No Diplomatic Relations Dividend: St. Kitts does not have diplomatic relations with the home country, making it an excellent firewall for individuals needing extremely high asset isolation.

Pain Point: Extremely strict background checks, and it is no longer visa-free to Canada (requires a visa).

2. Grenada: The Only "Golden Key" to Springboard to the US

If you want to go to the US, Grenada is the only choice.

  • E-2 Treaty Country: With a Grenada passport, you can apply for the US E-2 Investor Visa to avoid the EB-5 retrogression and legally settle in the US.
  • Visa-Free to Home Country: One of the very few Commonwealth passports with visa-free access to the home country, making it extremely convenient for foreign HNWIs returning home for family visits or business.

3. Antigua: The Most Cost-Effective Choice for Large Families

Antigua's legislation is highly cost-effective for family applications (family of four or five) with lower miscellaneous fees. Moreover, Antigua's international airport has the most flights, making transportation the most convenient.

Pain Point: It is the only country among the five with a physical presence requirement (you must accumulate 5 days of landing and residence within the first 5 years after approval).

4. St. Lucia and Dominica

St. Lucia is known for its minimalist online application and higher privacy; Dominica used to be the cheapest program for single applicants, but recently, under pressure from the UK and the EU, it is frantically patching up its background checks.

Law Firm Advice: If the goal is to open offshore accounts and set up family trusts, St. Kitts is the top choice; if the goal is to accompany children studying in the US or frequently travel back to the home country, Grenada is a must; if applying with a family of four or five, Antigua saves the most money.
